A beautiful blue sky day for a hard effort! Having run the dipsea a few weeks ago for the first time, I noticed this route and figured it must be similarly fun. I woke up late Saturday, and having it in the back of my mind, decided to give it a go.
After hitting the fire lookout at the top at around an hour, I knew that I would be sub-2:00. About a mile from the finish I realized that I'd be close to ~1:45 and made a push to get just under it. Along the way was a lot of hiker dodging on the Steep Ravine Trail (that's what you get for starting at 1:00 in the afternoon), a very sad moment at the top realizing that the water was shut off, and seeming to find a mountain biker coming around every blind corner on the fire roads up high after Pantoll.
Definitely many minutes to shave off of this!
