NPUP 6 -The Snowdonia Round - Complete in 15hrs 19mins 19 secs - 79.1 km with 4526m height gain in about 100⁰ heat!
I started off at 5am and had @loubeetlestone with me from Abergwyngregyn over to Ogwen. It was a breezy and chilly start but the kms ticked by nicely and conversation was flowing. Leg 2 over the Glyders, I was flying solo and the sun trap of Devils Kitchen gave me a clue about what the day would bring weather wise. I was already feeling that my stomach was not playing ball.
I met @gonks1 at Pen Y Pass and he made sure I was topped up with drinks and we set off at a good pace. We chatted about races and records and skipped past the hoards of tourists up Yr Wyddfa. As the ground got steeper, my pace slowed to a hike, but still kept moving. Gonks left me to go back to the pass from the Watkins path and I descended towards Nant Gwynant.
On the descent, just as I was thigh deep in a pool to cool off a little, @woza_running_coach arrived to take me all the way to the finish.
The next leg was really testing for me. Even the smallest of hills has me seriously struggling. At one point, I reckon Woza could have walked on his hands and he would have been quicker.
I kept plodding on and although I had hardly eaten anything all day I managed to get a small amount of @voomnutrition bars down and their electrolyte drinks. It was just so bloody hot.
After Moel Siabod it was descending almost all the way to the finish and as the temperature dropped, I felt a little better.
I got to the end in just over 15 hours and I am very happy with that in those conditions.
Next adventure was trying to get back to the cars! No taxis available but at least we were in the pub.
