This was a self‑supported solo effort. I carried all food, clothing, and essential gear from start to finish, and any support I used was publicly available to all. During the attempt I stopped at Gappohytta, Rostahytta, and Dærtahytta to boil water, and I took 3 hours of rest at Dærtahytta. These huts are open to the public, and using them for water and rest is fully within the self‑supported category.
The route began at the E8, just west of the Finnish border, following the DNT‑marked trail toward Dividalen in beautiful sunshine. I traveled with a light pack and met many friendly hikers along the way, reflecting how popular the area is. The huts at Rosta and Dividalshytta were busy and full of cheerful visitors when I passed through.
From Rosta to Dærta I continued by headlamp across more challenging terrain, where the trail was often faint and I relied on the watch for navigation. Temperatures dropped to around 4–5°C, and I put on a down jacket and wind layer. After resting for 3 hours at Dærta, I resumed at 04:00 in the early dawn. Clouds built up to the south, bringing rain and fog over the pass near Jerta, where rain gear became necessary. The trail overall was varied and enjoyable, with numerous river crossings that added character to the route.
The effort concluded at the turnaround point at the inner end of Dividalen, marking the end of this self‑supported solo FKT attempt, completed without any private support, crew, or individualized assistance.
