Came back a second time for a solo attempt at the Ives Trail fastest known time. By the halfway point, I was off the pace a bit but I knew the 3 biggest mountains were already behind me. I took advantage of the flatter miles after Terrywild Park and was able to cruise for a bit. I blundered by forgetting the hose to my 2L Camelback which cost me some time. I only stopped to drink twice before dumping out a liter at mile 9. Used the slow climbs to eat some stroopwafels instead of pushing too hard. The forecast called perfect conditions and Connecticut said “No” and dumped some buckets of rain all over the slippery rock stairs in Terrywild; that slowed me a bit but not too bad. The only really annoying time loss was waiting an eternity to cross Route 7. Was hoping I could play frogger but the cars were too close together going 65 mph so I had to wait for the light. Really didn’t know for sure if I’d be on track for the record until about 1 mile to go. Happy I was able to go out and run this trail again! Thanks to those before me who posted some fast times to strive for.
