I ran from Penmar to the VA/WVA state line on May 8th, 2021. I ran unsupported. So, I carried all of my food and water-- stopping at the two pumps available at the Washington Monument and Gathland State park. I started at 7:55 am under conditions of pouring rain. About halfway through the rain moved out and hail made its way in. I embraced the puddles and kept chugging along. Sunny skies erected at around mile 23 and stayed except for one more splash of hail. I made it to a crowded harpers ferry faster than anticipated and dodged visitors as I looked like I was on a secret mission. I arrived at the finish after one last climb up Loudon Heights. My Garmin says it took 9 hours and 24 minutes, but strava says 9 hours and 26 minutes. I will go with the latter.
