I'm happy to be able to drop a decent chunk of time from the previous FKT on my first go at it. It was a cold morning, about 32 degrees, but the sun was hot, so I wasn't sure how warm to dress. Ended up dressing too warm and had to stop to take my jacket off on the way up. Missed the record on the strava segment for the climb by just a few seconds, might have had it if I hadn't needed to stop to remove layers.
I used poles and didn't carry any water or nutrition. Passed two solo hikers, both moved out of my way when they saw how fast I was moving. Tripped and fell on a slight uphill on the way down. Scraped my knuckles, but luckily I had gloves on so my hands weren't as scraped as they could have been. Got right back up and kept moving at the same pace. Also scratched my leg on a yucca while running by it. Aside from my fall, it was smooth sailing the whole way. Overall I'm happy with this time.
