After forgetting my shoes at home, going back for them, then driving to the wrong trailhead, i finally started down the right trail an hour later than planned. I knew the gradual climb up coal creek would be a good warmup and I wanted to start fast to have some time cushion for the later climbs, felt good and went hard from the start. Had to throw on a vest as I approached the first peak which stayed on through Squak Mountain. A short reprieve from steep trail running through Issaquah and then a brutally steep long climb up Tiger Mountain that took almost everything out of my legs between mile 17 and 20. The top of Tiger mountain was 2 miles of clear cut get wrecked by wind and rain, trying to stay warm, was glad to get back in the trees and started counting down the climbs left. Speed walked up the last summit of Tiger Mountain eager to see the peak and know that it was all downhill to the finish. I just let gravity do the work and swung my legs down hill, happy to see I was at my pace goal and chipping away at it as I headed down to the road. Epic and wild adventure, wind, rain, cold and beautiful forest.
