Description

Admin note: This is NOT the somewhat popular Issy Alps 100M/100k/50k or the 100 mile version of the Issaquah Alps Grand Traverse.

The Issaquah Alps Grand Traverse is a route that takes you over each high point of Cougar, Squak and Tiger Mountains in Issaquah, Washington. The name Issaquah Alps was a term given by local Harvey Manning in the 70s to help bring the area more recognition rather than calling the area the foothills of the Cascades. This area was once used for mining and logging operations which are still ongoing across the Tiger Mountain area. Running the route West to East will challenge runners with steep accents like Section Line on West Tiger 3. This is an area that many choose to train for their trail running adventures but only use sections of this route. Pulliing together all those sections for one run is a spectacular run with waterfalls, streams and views of the Cascade Mountains along with Mount Rainier. This route is also used for the nonprofit Run For Shoes 50k event in the Spring of each year.
