Day 1: started at the Norbeck Dam TH in Wind Cave National Park at 5:22 AM. I started and hiked by myself the whole day and saw some bison and a ton of prairie dogs. I camped North of Horsethief Lake CG in the Forest
Day 2: I started early before sunrise and hiked all day ending about 6 trail miles South of the Dalton Lake Area.
Day 3: This was my longest day and I was in a lot of pain. I started hiking before 4 AM and didn’t finish until I was on top of Bear Butte Summit, which marks the north end of the trail. I finished hiking at 8:19 PM
