We started the route at 10:01AM by a rainy saturday morning (22/07/2023) carrying all of our food and water supply. The route was in horrible conditions since it had been raining non-stop for 2 days. We ran in muddy water most of the time, but spirits were high and we were having a blast. This was our last block of training before tackling the Harricanna 80K in September and we were glad to be out. The first half of the route was brutal and full of really technical climbs and single-tracks. We missed an intersection about mid-way and lost around 5 to 10 minutes going back to take the right trail. By the time we arrived at the top of the last big climb on top of Montagne Noire, we watched the time and saw the FKT was within reach if we maintained sub-6min/km pace, so we headed down the mountain for the last 6-7K all guns blazing and got it by approximately 5 minutes! All in all, super fun day out, can't wait to go back to try and beat this time with better conditions.
