I started from the Golden Canyon Trailhead at 8:45 a.m. and ran clockwise, reaching Zabriskie Point at around the 31:20 mark, then descended Gower Gulch back to the trailhead for a total time of 58:06. I ran alone and carried a handheld flask of water and ate one GU Gel. The temperature was perfect in the shade and too hot in the sun, so I probably should've started earlier! The day was beautiful; the trails were (always are) beautiful, and I didn't run into too many hikers. The views around Death Valley never cease to amaze me. I wore the Merrell Skyfire 2 shoes, which made the need for quick footwork through the gravelly wash of Gower Gulch easy. This route is super fun and the landscape changes so dramatically! Highly recommend. This FKT effort is part of a fundraiser that I'm doing for ReNew Earth Running this Fall. Details can be found in my Strava Posts or on my Instagram: oyesaranda. Cheers.
