I started at the Onondaga trailhead at 0600 on May 15, 2022. My daughter dropped be off at the traihead. The day before- we dropped my car off at the end point. My plan was to backpack and camp- shooting for about 30 miles a day. I made it to Berryman that first day. I got to watch the eclipse of the moon that night. I got water from creeks and streams along the way. I carried all my food and supplies. I ate probars and cold soaked dehydrated food. I was by myself the entire time. It rained some that day. I saw one person in the Huzzah Conservation Area. May 16- I made to about one mile from the DD and 32 junction. May 17- made it to Gunnis Creek. I saw three people on the trail, yellow lady slippers and almost stepped on a cooperhead. It rained some. May 18- I made it to a couple miles past the P Hwy trailhead. Feet were starting to bother me- blisters, so you can see I was getting less miles per day. May 19- I was getting into the sections of the trail that I have never been on. Made it to close to Owls Bend. Decided to stop so I didn't have to walk on Hwy 106 in the dark. Got some rain. May 20- made it to Mint springs, I pushed through to there since I had run out of water. I saw a collared lizard on Stegall Mountain and saw two herds of elk at Peck Ranch. I saw a group of six hikers and had a copperhead in my camp. May 21-  severe storms and torrential rains, so I didn't make it too far. Was just glad not to have limb fall on me. May 22- made it to the Eleven Point section traihead. My feet were really sore, but I applied more tape and sucked it up. May 23- still plugging away, but getting even slower. May 24- soldiered through the last few miles, I was kind of out of it, since I got turned around on a switchback and went the wrong way for a while, I was not too happy with myself. Finally make it to my car at 1245 and gave it a hug! My feet were in pretty bad shape, it think due to my shoes being wet all the time from creek crossings and wet vegetation. I think I would have been a couple days faster if my feet weren't trashed. I am glad I did this, it was hard and uncomfortable but very rewarding. I am happy to share info on my gear and such it anyone is interested.
