Had been wanting to do this route for a while, and with Miwok coming up it was the perfect time to do some course recon while getting in a long run. What a stunning route! It felt like a celebration of Bay Area trail running. The Bolinas Ridge trail is so varied, with beautiful tree sections opening to ~iconic~ coastal views.
Ran the entire time with my friend Patrick, who definitely carried me a little (metaphorically of course). We went just after a few days of moderate rain so the climb up to the ridge was essentially a bog for a substantial portion, but once we got up there was surprisingly little mud until the switchbacks up Miwok. We each brought 1 liter of water, and refilled at Cardiac. It wasn't too hot so this was adequate, but if it is a hot day I'd recommend bringing some extra water since the only places to refill are at Pantoll and Cardiac. The only other logistical concern is car shuttling... we drove to the end point by the Golden Gate and ubered to the start... this was definitely not the cheapest option, but there aren't to many parking options at the trailhead so if you can't convince someone to give you a ride then uber might be right for you.
