On Monday July 27, 2026 at 9:18 AM, Maria Vicini and I set out to attempt the fastest known time on the Northern Colorado Trail. The trail connects Glen Haven to Glenwood Springs. It is around 300 miles long and has about 45,000 feet of elevation gain.

First things I would like to address: we had to reroute twice. First time was at mile 78- around mile 84. The trail we were looking for did not seem to exist, so we took the 4WD road down to where it met up with the trail. This added around 6 miles.

Second time was around mile 148-196 due to the Fishhook Fire Closure. The standard route followed the border of the closure and would have made crew access near impossible. The fire was declared 100% contained on July 28th, however the closure stayed in place and other hikers warned us of mudslides and flooding in the area, so we made the decision to stick to the reroute plan. We tried to reroute as little as possible, however we understand this was a significant diversion from the standard route. It was the closest we could get to the real thing.

The original standard route would have been 304.4 miles with around 45,000 feet of elevation gain. My final stats were 314.78 miles with 44,429 ft of elevation gain.

Sadly, Maria had to drop out at mile 118 with an ER visit. I (Saskia) continued on, and finished on Sunday August 2nd, 2027 at 10:07 PM. I am very sad that Maria could not finish with me, but I am so grateful that we started together. We were originally going for a same-sex team FKT. We were resupplied with food and water many times by our crew of family and friends. I ran many miles with my friends Ivy, Tucker, Jacob, Whitley, Caitlin and Paulina. Paulina paced from mile 43-78, Ivy from 148-163, Tucker from 163-178, Caitlin from 178-186, Whitley from 186-194, Tucker from 200-212, and 224-236, Caitlin from 236-242, Jacob from 243-285 and Tucker from 285-314.78. And of course, Maria who ran with me from the start up until mile 118. I owe these friends so much, I am so grateful for their company.

Please let me know if the strava and coros files work. Both like to show in moving and elapsed time for whatever reason. Both should be public but please let me know if they are not or if I can send a different file.
