The North Country Trail runs east west across the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My route started at the Mackinaw Bridge North Country Trail head (NCT) in St. Ignace, which is located in the rest area on the north side of the Mackinaw Bridge. I then followed the NCT east to west across the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan, until the Michigan/Wisconsin boarder, which is marked by Montreal River. The NCT travels first, north up from Lake Huron to Lake Superior thru the Hiawatha National Forest, near the mouth of the Taqumanon river. Thenit follows the Taqumanon river thru the Taqumanon Falls State Park up to the Mouth of the Two-heart River. It then runs west along the shore of Superior all the way to Pictured Rocks National Lakshore and down to Munising Mi. The trails then goes thru the west part of the Hiawatha National Forest which contains the Rock River Wilderness area then up to Marquette Michigan. The trail continues west from Marquette along the McCormick Wilderness area and then Craig Lake state park. After that you enter the Ottawa National Forest until you reach the Trap Hills which boarder the Porcupine Mountain State Park. After the Porkies, you go through more of the ottawa National Forest and end north of Ironwood Michigan, where Michigan meet Wisconsin.
