I left around 6:30am with first light. Weather turned out a little warmer than I typically prefer unfortunately. This is by far my longest run, previously my longest was a marathon! I parked at the Algonquin trail head and took off from there to Oswego. This is a very pretty trail and most of it is truly trail, with only short sections being road. Holy Cow the hills around 15-16ish in and then around 19 miles were pretty decent!
I carried 12 gels and consumed all of them during my run. I had a 50 ounce bladder in a running vest which was filled with water and Skratch labs electrolytes. I also carried a 14 ounce soft flask Nathan handheld alternating between carrying in my hand and putting in my vest pockets. I filled the 14 ouncer at basically every water fountain I could find. I did not have any drop locations as this was a pretty last minute decision to make this attempt and I did not go in with many logistics worked out. The last couple miles my tricky calf cramp was causing me unfortunate pains, but I pushed through since my time was looking solid. This was a hard effort for sure, but also a beautiful route and I would absolutely love to see more people do it!
