Parked at the Dry River Trailhead and got the 3 road miles done first - really glad I did this - those 3 miles and the end would have been type 11 fun. The David Path was lovely - summited Crawford, Stairs, David, Isolation, North Isolation, then hit the alpine zone. Here, the weather turned from sunny and warm to completely overcast, cold, and very windy (MWOBS said 63mph winds). Fighting the wind made for an extra dose of type 2 fun, though it made a normally pretty runable and cruisy section sloooooow. At Crawford Path headed towards Lake of the Clouds, debated whether to go in or not (decided to keep moving and remain unsupported), and started on the Dry River Trail. LOTS of water sources here, so there's really no reason to enter the hut other than comfort (or if you don't carry a filter or don't bring enough food; I love my Katadyn filter, fits right on my bottle, and I carried enough snacks, didn't even eat them all). Top section of Dry River was quite slippery and also slow, then it was another 6 miles of hurdling downed trees and wishing I could stop and sit in the river. And I did get in the river when I finished :) Overall it was a super fun, restorative day. Mountains are my happy place
