Took an uber to the trailhead in Shirlington from my home in Leesburg.  Uber driver couldn't get his head around what I was doing.  "You mean you are riding your bike on the trail?"  "No, I'm running."  "Just a part of the trail? "No, the whole thing." "Really? How and why would you want to do that?"  Was able to start around 5:30 a.m.  The only problem with that plan was that all of the restrooms were locked.  Lucked upon a portajohn about 10 miles in after a few uncomfortable miles.  Lost a little time getting off track by the detour around the trail closure, but was finally able to find the correct detour route.  The detour ended up adding around 7/10th of a mile to the run.  Rest of the the run was mercifully uneventful.  Refilled my bottles with water and Tailwind at the water fountain at the Smith Switch station.  Only hard part was when the trail went about 1/2 mile from my home, and I thought to myself that I should just be happy with a 36 mile run.  Ended up finishing before noon, about 2 minutes under my A goal of 6:30.  Met my family at the end and had a 3-beer brunch at Magnolias at the Mill. It was a good day- perfect running weather, lots of miles, good beer, and some quality time with my loving, but totally unimpressed fam at the end.
