Really beautiful day in the Winds to share with friends! We wanted to put in a hard effort but also enjoy the incredible terrain, flowers, and each other's company. We left Elkhart TH at 6:49am to try to beat the heat, pack strings, and potential storms. Conditions were pretty wet- lot's of deep mud, puddles, flooded trails, and high creek crosses. The first half of the day stayed cool but the temperatures rose significantly by afternoon. Fremont itself was fantastic. We summited in 4hrs and 46min, took a very short break for photos and snacks, and made our way down. No snow on the face but enough down below the saddle to have some great glissading on the way down to Indian Basin. We hoofed it back through the basins to Elkhart with very little delay (only passing two short pack strings and some brief water refills) totaling 8hrs 53min on route- almost an hour faster than my previous time. Honestly one of the best days I've had in the mountains. Friends make everything twice as fun.
