For my 30th Birthday I had organized a run from the West Gate of Algonquin Park to the East Gate via the Highway 60. We started running at 7 am with a group of of five people finishing with three, with me running the fastest time in the male category. I received support at km 14 at Smoke Lake, km 34 at Lake of Two Rivers and km 48 at Brewer Lake. I ran the first 34 km with a friend of mine, who then cramped and had to let go of his dream to finish together at the same time. My sister Gerwina Pollmann (FKT Female category) caught up with me at km 34 and we ran from there on together meeting our goal time to finish in sub 6 hours. From Brewer Lake (km 48) my sister-in-law accompanied me and my sister. It was a great run with lots of emotional up and downs and cramping at the end as I made some mistakes in my fueling strategy. Hope somebody else tries this FKT as it is a beautiful piece of road running.
