I ran Yam el Yam on 5/5/2022. I started looking for the trailhead around 5:25AM and to my surprise, high waters and overgrowth covered the beginning of the trail. I touched the Kinneret and then made my way towards a road to start the run just before 6AM. The first section along Nahal Amud was quite overgrown and led to a couple stumbles early on. I filtered and refilled my water in the Hidden Pool on my way towards Meron and again at the base of the Mount Meron. Once more, I refilled my water from at tap at the top of Mount Meron and took off on my descent. Just shy of Abirim, I got off trail and needed to back track - this section was quite frustrating and brutal on my body. My knees felt shattered and from this point on, my running and walking speeds were within 30 seconds to 1 minute per mile of one another. The descent from Abirim was breathtaking and its beauty filled my eyes with tears. I refilled my water before taking the last steep incline up to the Montfort Castle. From this point on, the course was largely on paved road. The sun was setting with a little drizzle to compliment the scenery. I approached Achziv Beach just after dark as a storm was starting to hit. I ran down to where the waves were breaking and ended my run when I was splashed by the mist of a breaking wave. This was my journey from Sea to Sea.
