We chose a sunny Sunday in October to try this route, which turned out to be a very good choice, as it does have great views and we loved seeing all the trees in their autumn colours. We started at Busenbach Bahnhof, and got briefly lost after only 500 m as we took the wrong path in the woods (seems to become a signature move of ours). Anyway, we quickly corrected and tackled the ascent to Etzenrot and Spielberg. The part of the route following Spielberg is lovely - there were great views, followed by nice forest paths. We saw lots of horses riding out in the woods on the second half, which was quite fun. Two mountain bikers even cheered us on on the last few ks, and we made it back to Busenbach Bahnhof without any problems. It was a really fun autumn run!
