We had a perfect weather day—sunny, breezy, great views and fall colors—for our unsupported FKT attempt. The climb up Cook Trail was steady but smooth for the first couple of miles. Then the bushwhacking started and did not relent all the way to Augs! Legs are very scratched and it made for very slow going. We lost the trail a couple of times—saved by All Trails map Alice had downloaded on her phone!
A little past Augs, we began to be able to move more steadily. A fun steady decent and then climb to Dog, followed by an epic decent to the parking lot! We did not see a single other person until we got close to the Dog summit. What a treat!
