Been eyeing this one for a few months... initially wanted to set a really high bar for the unsupported category, but after doing the Onondaga Trail 40 miler last month and experiencing some lingering ankle pain for a few weeks thereafter, just wanted to do the 3 loops for the record, have an excuse to go into NYC and make a weekend out of it.
Did it with my boy Ethan whose longest run prior to this was a half-marathon, so this was a new challenge for him. First 2 loops went without much issue, and then Ethan's ankle started seizing on the 3rd loop (bad cramps). This slowed us down and made it tough for E to tackle any type of hill (uphill or downhill). He grit his teeth and got through it though. Beautiful weather and classic NYC stimulation throughout the entire run. Only had around 300 calories during entire run (fruit snacks, RX bar) and refilled at a functional water fountain just off the main road for water as needed. Fun day!
