For this unsupported solo out & back run, I camped the night before at North Shore Trailhead. It was hard to pass up the many swimming holes during the first few miles. As the climb increased, the water level in the creek decreased. A final refill at the 7,185 foot mark got me to the summit and back. The weather on top of Mt Eddy was perfect, although the summit of Mt Shasta was hidden by clouds. Saw zero people until the divide, then saw a few climbers coming up from the Deadfall Lakes side. Stellar tread for running back down and mountain scenery both ways to distract. Safe and sound at road's end, before heading out I made time to go back upstream briefly to revisit a rather inviting swimming hole I had noticed en route, but a little deeper this round.
Swimming holes, summit views, and a great trail to run. The Sisson-Callahan rocks!
