I drove out from Colorado to visit family and found this route listed. I grew up not far from here, but I had never been to this specific area. I came out a couple of days ago to make an attempt. The previous write-ups said the trail was easy to follow and the map looked pretty simple, but the trail was often overgrown and after I was led astray by cattle trails a few times (they are more obvious than the real trail in places) and then had to wait off trail for several minutes to let a cow and her calf pass, I aborted that attempt and just hiked it. I went back today and used the navigation on my Garmin (and my knowledge from my first trip) and it was an easy follow. It's quite an enjoyable trail of rolling hills through trees and grasslands. It went smoothly today outside of getting covered in burrs. I'm recovering from an injury, so this was one of my longest runs in months. I hope to improve my time the next time I'm visiting the area when I'm better trained.
It was a quiet day on the trail as I suspect it typically is. I saw a couple of white tail deer but no people. There was a pickup and horse trailer at one trailhead, but I never saw the riders. I saw a few cattle, but thankfully none were blocking the trail today. I ran the course clockwise.
