Description

This part of the country is not known for its trails or hills. The Hankinson Hills should be an exception to this. These beautiful sandy hills are part of the Sheyenne National Grassland. They are open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The Hankinson Hills Loop is a 7.8 mile loop with 430 feet of elevation gain. There are 4 trailheads on the loop and 1 campground. The well maintained trail can get sandy in places but in general it is beautiful flowy singletrack through oak trees and prairie. This loop receives little use and is a great place to find solitude, despite only being an hours drive from Fargo.
