On 10/16/2025, at 1145am, I attempted the Twin Valley Trail FKT. I chose to go counterclockwise. I had a great time out on the trail! It was my 2nd time running the TVT. It was a beautiful fall day. The trail conditions were amazing. I had some cramping toward the end and fell once. I carried two handhelds with some gels and Pinole cookies in a waist pack. I did not carry my phone. The pictures I took were from the trail head at the Germantown Sledhill parking lot, where I started and finished the route.
The TVT connector trail (between Germantown Metropark and the bike trail) is one of my favorite sections of this route. I would say it’s both the hardest and most scenic section of the route.
“Unique fatigue”
The TVT is a fast route. It is challenging in a special way because it takes being able to efficiently change gears. There are lots of flat stretches you’ll want to crank on like a road marathoner, but there’s many steep hills to conquer at the Metroparks. It’s a unique fatigue you get toward the end.
After the run, I cleaned up with some wet wipes, put on my uniform, then went to work.
