Started at trailhead off Whiteside Cove Rd just after 8a. Was a clear 27 degrees in the morning, warming to the low 50s in the afternoon.
Supported at Burrells Ford and Russell Bridge by my younger brother and his girlfriend.
A favorite backpacking location during my college years, I was very excited to finally have the opportunity to string together the whole trail.
Missed a couple turns, slightly, before correcting (navigation assistance using Chattooga Native Plant Society guidebook maps and view ranger app). Trail showed signs of recent maintenance, though the last section still had many blowdowns. Well marked and very scenic.
Technical trail, much more difficult than total elevation implies. Certainly could be done faster!
