After a failed attempt during Covid lockdown, I returned in the autumn to have a go at this 23.5 mile woodland trail. Left my car at Walsden, got the train to Brighouse and started there to run up the valley.
It's a great route - woods full of character, bits of river and canal, some industrial heritage mixed with the wilidlife, and plenty of up and down the sides of the valley. The turnings aren't always obvious (the route isn't waymarked on the ground) and I ran at least a mile extra down wrong turnings - plus there's currently a canal towpath closure and some dual carriageway works that added another mile or so.
A bit more preparation and there's a faster time in me, but some of the surfaces are tricky for running so I'm not sure I can go *much* faster - but I hope some other people see the route and are inspired to give it a go. It's well worth it.
