The Calder Woodland Way winds up the steep Calder Valley from Brighouse to Walsden. The route passes through a number of woodlands, including Elland Park, North Dean, Brearley, Horsehold, Burnt Acres, and Dobroyd Woods.
The route is described and mapped in a booklet by Christopher Goddard with excellent descriptions of the route, the woods, and landmarks on the way - a useful resource as routefinding is not always easy. It is also served by a rail line from Brighouse to Walsden and a number of stations along the way.
It's a wonderful exploration of the character of this valley, and particularly attractive in the autumn and the spring.
