Report

The Basingstoke canal towpath was my first ultra distance run. The route was easy to follow from 3 miles onwards. Got badly lost during the second mile and added an extra mile to the total distance. Took 1.5L of water in my camelbak and 2 waterbottles with 360 g carbs. Ran out of water at mile 21 and sipped on carbs until I could meet Rich for a water refill at 26 miles. Felt awful at mile 20 and had a mild panic attack when I realised how much more there was to do. Seeing Rich at mile 26 mentally fueled the next few miles, but from mile 30 onwards there was more walking than running and each step was more painful than the last. Rich met me 1/2 a mile from the end where I could see the sign for the end of the route, which didn't feel like it was getting close quickly enough.

Overall it was a great route and a great day out.
