Thank you to the original submitter of this course and to all the challengers, past and future! A great course that showcases many of the features of the Flatwoods and Morris Bridge parks.

After researching the courses run by the challengers here and comparing those routes to available trails maps, I used the original submitter's GPX and loaded it onto my watch. This turned out to be key about half way into the run. I decided to start my run at the aluminum bridge located at 28.10793661051191, -82.34809170685263, since this attempt is part of a build into the Celebration Marathon and my full run for the day was ~19mi. Parking at the Bruce B Downs entrance, I jogged out to the aluminum bridge, stopped my watch, loaded the FKT map, started my watch on the bridge and ran across the road into the woods along the course. I went counter-clockwise as noted in my earlier post, so that I could enter the Morris Bridge Park "entrance" trailhead going with the flow of traffic (since I believe the original submitter came "out" the "entrance" by running the course clockwise).

Things were smooth-going until the intersection of Piglet and Techno Pig, and this is where having the course loaded onto my watch was helpful. I couldn't see the Piglet section of the trail, as it was under water and (I later learned) had ~5 trees down from the recent Hurricanes (Helene and Milton). No traffic had been on the trail and the dirt was overgrown/covered, so I made a mistake by taking Techno Pig north instead of Piglet west/nw. As soon as I realized this, I doubled-back to the intersection with my watch running then entire time, and then picked up the actual course by taking Piglet through swamp edge and the tree-fallen section. This part of Piglet trail was barely visible, and at times invisible, so I walked a bit of this section and monitored my location relative to the trail by using the watch while going over, under, and around fallen trees and debris. My total distance was 0.39mi farther than the posted course, and I believe this extra out-and-back was the cause. I honored the course to the greatest degree possible, and leave it to the FKT reviewing/validation team to make the final call on this submission based on how closely I tracked through the tree-fallen section.

The rest of the attempt felt smooth; it was a mid-day attempt and temps were not especially warm or cold - just right :) By the time I got to the section of woods inside the "asphalt loop" section my hips were tired and my form was getting sloppy. I was counting down to 13.99mi for the course, but only at this point realized I had an indeterminate additional distance to go beyond that because of my extra out-and-back. Seeing the aluminum bridge where I started this attempt was welcome, and I crossed it then stopped the watch.

The attempt was unsupported, I carried all my hydration (water + Gatorade) and nutrition (maple syrup + Mio) with me. Left nothing along the trail and took nothing from the trail. Fully solo attempt.

Thank you again to all involved in this site and the attempts - you've given me energy for my fitness journey!
