Sunday decided to give Cape Chignecto a shot, I've always wanted to run it ever since I hiked it in 2020. The weather looked good and stable so I grabbed some snacks, made some sandwiches and headed out that morning from Halifax. Parks staff were great and offered to pick me up at any of the cabins if I ran into difficulty. Started off strong (after the first hill where I was questioning my life choices). First 10km had lots of water and so I carried only 300 ml at any given time. Dreamy and dry single 1/2 track. Second 10km a little less water but still doable. Started to heat up on the back side of the park between Seal Cove and Big Bald Rock with lots of roots, bog that seemed impossible to run through and no way that I could find to maintain a pace. Final section after Little Bald Rock all the way home also perfect. Three 'holy shit' climbs and I was back at the park gate checking out and catching the sunset. Pretty pleased with my time although I know there are faster than me out there!
