Unseasonably cool June temperatures ensured I had great conditions all morning. I mostly power-hiked both climbing sections, making my way up to Yosemite Point in 1:14. I descended as quickly as I could to the valley floor, taking a fifteen minute break at my truck to refuel and recompose. I was back to Swinging Bridge by 2:32, and topped out at Glacier Point at 3:59. Cruising down Four Mile was the highlight of the route; it really is a lot more runnable than Yosemite Falls.
I dealt with minor quad cramps around my knees on the way up and calf cramps on the way down, but thankfully these didn't derail the effort. I'm definitely still learning how to fuel and manage hydration on these longer runs. The water fountains at Glacier Point being turned off didn't help!
There's a ton of time left on the table for this FKT. Some back of the envelope calculations suggest that three hours should be possible but quite challenging - a nice round time challenge that will hopefully foster some excitement surrounding this great route. Thanks to Josh for the submission!
