Initially planned to give this a go on Saturday 11th after reading about it on ramblingman.org.uk, but impending snow pushed my plans forward. I started just before 10am after having a too long lie in. The first section to edale went well. I didn't take a note of time and just enjoyed the views. A lot of walkers, more than expected. The climb up mam tor was more pleasant than expected, but a tumble on the great ridge really knocked me back, physically and mentally. It caused my left calf to tighten and from then on it wasn't a matter of speed, it was just get round the thing. Snow began to fall shortly after, and a very slippy descent off lose hill. I know the climb up win hill well and it took me far longer than expected, but I took the time to put waterproof trousers on as the snow thickened. From here it was a matter of gritting my teeth and pushing through the winds which were whipping snow into my eyes, not an enjoyable experience. Luckily this subsided as I began the approach to stanage and found my rhythm again. I was tempted with popping into outside for a coffee, but I'd never leave and ground out the final climb, with an enjoyable 3km-ish descent to the end point.

Times are from station to station. Ran alone. Took 15 hi 5 gels, handfuls of revels and chocolate peanuts, and 2 bananas (which remained uneaten), and 3 litres of water (drank about 2 during).
