The 100,000-Step Trail is a varied multi-day hike/run through the Naturpark Almenland. Spanning six stages, this loop hike/run takes you past scenic peaks, idyllic alpine pastures, impressive gorges, and through the most beautiful villages around the Passailer Kessel.
This multi-stage hiking trail was conceived by the Passail Catholic Men's Movement, which also planned and implemented it.
The six sections are designed so that there is a place to stop for a break or spend the night after each day’s stage. The stages follow mainly designated Alpine Club trails and have also been marked with their own signposts.
The small signs depict the colors of the communities visited along the hike: Fladnitz an der Teichalm (gold), Passail (blue), and St. Kathrein am Offenegg (red).
The trail starts in Arzberg, leads up to the Schöckl and continues on to the Rechberg. From there, it crosses the Nechnitz River and climbs up to the Teichalm, then over the Osser to the Sommeralm, and on via the Brandlucken St. Kathrein am Offenegg. The last two stages then lead down via the Patscha into the Weizklamm Gorge before returning to Arzberg via the Gösser and the Große Raabklamm.
