The route passes through the spectacular landscapes of Glen Affric and Kintail connecting the two towns of Drumnadrochit, on the famous Loch Ness, and Morvich, on the spectacular Scottish West Coast. Whilst the route stays relatively low, cutting a line of least resistant through this rugged and remote part of the country, it takes in the huge views of the Five Sisters of Kintail, the Glen Affric munros, and Loch Affric.
For those visiting the area this route takes in the best of what Scotland has to offer. Drumnadrochit is located on the shores of Loch Ness, one of Scotlands most iconic features, and within walking distance of the famous Urquhart Castle. The route itself follows ancient drovers roads past deep lochs and through towering glens, ancient woodlands and The Glen Affric National Nature Reserve. For those planning on spending more than a day on the trail there is also the opportunity to incorporate a stay in the Camban bothy; a truly Scottish experience.
