Description

The Beara Way is a 128 mile long distance trail. This beautiful circular trail begins and ends in Glengarriff and goes around the Beara Peninsula. The Beara Way offers an outstanding scenic route which can be cycled or walked. The loop also circumnavigates Bere Island and is part of the Beara Breifne Way. The trail takes approximately 9 days to complete by walkers and offers an exceptional experience. There are a number of plaques along the Beara Way and as you walk the Beara section of the Beara Breifne Way you can also collect your Breifne Way passport stamps.

Editor's note: There are variations on the route available in different places online. This route GPX is based on the map in the book Big Trails (Kathy Rogers and Stephen Ross), and includes several out-and-back sections and extra loops (eg Bere Island). Any FKT submitted on this site must follow the route as shown in the GPX, which includes a ferry and cable car ride.
