To establish the Bent Creek Rim route, I started at the Bent Creek River Park. Located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Brevard Rd. (NC-191) and E. Frederick Law Olmsted Wy. I left the through the parking lot entrance to Brevard road and headed right on the road towards Bent Creek Ranch Rd. Turned left on Bent Creek Ranch Rd and continued to follow it right at the intersection with Wesley Branch Rd. Three tenths of a mile from Brevard Rd. Bent Creek Ranch Rd. then ends at Pole Creasman Rd. where I took a left an followed it till taking a right on Holly Ln. Holly Ln dead ends and transitions into a double track trail. My best guess is this is a small connector trail to Northern Boundary Trail. Next two intersection stay right and you will find yourself on top of Rice Pinnacle. Continue on Northern Boundary Trail through the intersection with Northern Boundary Rd. After descending Wolf Knob you will land on Northern Boundary Rd. Follow the "road" (double track trail), passed Green Licks T.H. and over "Three Humps". Three Humps ends at the intersection with Shut-in Trail below Ferrin Knob. Follow Shut-in trail over Bent Creek Gap Rd. There will be a via-duct and likely many cars. Shortly after Bent Creek Gap there will be a right turn that takes you up Cold Knob Boundary Trail. Take a left at the top of Cold Knob and descend down to the first intersection. This is the Mountains To Sea Trail or the MST. This section of the MST is also referred to as "Shut-in". Follow the MST through sleepy Gap parking and continue up Grassy Knob. After passing over Grassy the trail will reconnect with the MST. Follow the MST till it seemingly dead ends outside the NC Arboretum. When you hit the road outside the arboretum turn left and on the other side of the road is a trail that goes under the small bridge on Brevard Rd. The otherside of the bridge is Bent Creek River Park.
