Description

The Big Creek/Bear Creek loop is a beautiful route connecting two drainages in Montana’s iconic Bitterroot Valley. The route is almost entirely in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness, one of the largest Wilderness areas in the lower 48 States. It starts and finishes in Montana, but along the way enters and then exits Idaho via two rugged mountain passes: Bear Creek Pass and Packbox Pass. This is a wild, remote route with the Idaho section in particular seeing very few visitors.
