Description

Die Premium-Trailrunde schlechthin im Blautal: einmal um den Blaubeurener Talkessel herum, vorwiegend auf schmalen Trails und vorbei an zahlreichen Naturhighlights und Aussichtspunkten.

Start and finish: train station Blaubeuren (perfectly reachable by train)

The direction of running (clockwise/anticlockwise) can be freely chosen. The 4 small tops/viewpoints Günzelburg, Blaufels, Knoblauchfels and Rusenschloss (passed by the track) should be summited as well.

Description in clockwise direction: After the start at the train station, we run up the first long ascent passing the rock formations among the famous Küssende Sau and reaching the top with the first viewpoint at the Günzelburg. The first long downhill follows flowy trails down to some stairs leading us to the old town of Blaubeuren. It is possible (not mandatory) to have a look at the famous blue source Blautopf. At the north end of the old town we climb a few stairs leading us to the second long uphill winding its way up on nice switchbacks until we reach the rocky top of the Blaufels. Now we have a flat to gentle stretch running along the rim of the Alb and passing the small settlement Sonderbuch. After a while, the trail leads us to another small rocky viewpoint, the Knoblauchfels. Shortly after we have to climb up some final steep stairs to the last top, the Rusenschloss. Now the real final downhill starts, shortly after we reach the finish at the train station in Blaubeuren.
