Route: Blue Mountains Creek to Peak Loop

Location
New South Wales, AU
Distance
135 km
Vertical Gain
5,000 m
Description

John Newman submitted the route:

This 130km (80 mile) loop of the Blue Mountains weaves together jaw-dropping sights and a lot of the best single track in the area. It's a knockout. The loop can be run in either direction, starting from any point. Some sections are brutal but the views are worth it. Have a close look at the route here if you are curious: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1127201

The circuit is bookended by the Glenbrook Creek and spectacular views of Mt Solitary and the Three Sisters. The lowest point of the circuit is a swimming hole at Glenbrook Creek, and the views up top are exactly what people are hoping for when they think of "Blue Mountains".

I'll be having a second crack at this route tomorrow, leaving Blaxland at sunrise heading counter clockwise. I'll run it self-supported or supported, hoping to get under 24 hours. By running it without getting lost I'll be giving Stephen Redfern a more sensible route to recreate when he smashes my time this Friday. He plans to run it unsupported.

I didn't make it all the way around, recovery time was probably too short. Loved it though - I got to appreciate all the scenery that was in the dark last time. Excited to see more experienced runners throw down good times.Â
