Valle Aurina / Ahrntal Classic Route
This is the classic hiking route of the Valle Aurina / Ahrntal, leading to the northernmost alpine refuge in Italy.

Route Description
The hike starts in the locality of Casere / Kasern, right in front of the Nature Park Visitor Center (Centro Visite del Parco Naturale / Naturparkhaus).
Follow the gravel road that ascends gently, first reaching the historic St. Holy Spirit Church (Chiesa di Santo Spirito / Heilig-Geist-Kirche), and then passing near the Adler Mountain Hut (Malga Adler / Adleralm).
Continue climbing along the gravel road until you reach the Kehrer Mountain Hut (Malga Kehrer / Kehreralm). From this point, the wide road ends, and you take the mountain trail that leads first to the Laner Mountain Hut (Malga Laner / Lahneralm). Afterward, the path steepens significantly, climbing in a series of switchbacks until you reach the highest point of the route: the Brigata Tridentina Refuge (Rifugio Brigata Tridentina / Birnlückenhütte).
The descent follows the exact same itinerary in reverse.
