Ce chemin suit le tracé d'une ancienne voie ferrée qui reliait autrefois la ville de Castres aux villages des Monts de Lacaune. Elle traverse les villages emblématiques des monts de Lacaune: Roquecourbe, Vabre, Lacaze, Viane, Gijounet et enfin Lacaune. La voie ferrée fut construite au début du XXième siècle et la ligne ferroviaire fut supprimée en 1962. Ce tracé rend hommage à cette époque.
ADDITIONAL NOTES ABOUT THE ROUTE
The starting point of the route is the begining of the fountain path ("chemin des fontaines") in Castres, the main pathway to leave the city built on the site of an underground aqueduct. The end point is a famous XVIth century fountain in the city of Lacaune named "la fontaine des pisseurs" which was built in order to extol the diuretic virtues of the region's waters.
