Description

This is a famous pilgrimage route in the city of Chimbote, widely known for Holy Week processions.

The first section is paved for almost 5 km, climbing toward the sanctuary church. Just before reaching the church, a flight of stairs marks the start of the unpaved 1 km mountain trail leading to the summit cross.

Starting near sea level, the ascent is continuous with no elevation loss, making it a popular training hill for local runners and cyclists (who use the paved section).

The coastal climate is humid year-round, and the summit is frequently shrouded in fog. Descending the unpaved trail requires caution, as the combination of loose scree and damp, foggy conditions can make footing slick and treacherous.
