Cerro Electrico 2.260 meters
NB: The NW Variant has a lot of loose rock so trying this route is at the discretion of each athlete.
This peak, located to the north east of the Chaltén massif. It has three clearly different summits: one located close to Paso Guillaumet which is a black rock formation, Castillo Negro, one to the east which is glaciated, the main summit, and one to the northeast which is red colored.
This mountain offers a unique opportunity to move quickly through its trails to its summit with the possibility of having majestic views of the Fitz Roy massif while avoiding the most frequented trails.
Recommend the use of helmet, crampons and ice axe for safety and fluidity since you must cross a glacier section.
The route starts by following the marked trail towards Piedra Del Fraile.
The Italian priest and geographer Alberto Maria De Agostini, who visited, mapped and climbed in the area in the 1930s, was the first to record the peak's name. The name of this mountain has many different stories, D'Agostini, who said that Cerro Eléctrico would be a good name because the wind passing through the valley created a special sound, which resembles lightning.Another story explains that the name is due to its two peaks. One of them is black and the other is red. Therefore, both look like the positive (+) and negative (-) of electricity.

Hey,
A little information about this mountain from the little bit that I know. This is a different route than the "standard" east face route people do. Maybe this route is less technical? I don't know.
But if this FKT is meant to be open route, as it should, then Chris and Tito's time is not the FKT. Colin Hailey and his partner did the East face route in less than 4:30 RT.
I actually attempted it too and go turned around about 300m below the summit due to open crevasses and breaking through soft snow while being solo on the mountain and was on pace to go sub 3:30 RT on this.
Maybe C&T's time is the fastest for the route they chose to take but it isn't the fastest time on Electrico.
