Description

Cerro Prat, located to the south of the Prat Range, is one of the most iconic peaks near Puerto Natales. Its prominent silhouette, visible from the city’s waterfront, makes it a key attraction for tourists and mountaineers seeking a moderately technical challenge and navigation in rugged terrain.

Its ascent presents an engaging athletic challenge, combining steep slopes, loose rock sections (scree), and parts requiring third-class scrambling. All of this, along with Patagonia's unpredictable weather, adds an extra layer of difficulty for those daring enough to climb it.

From its summit, Cerro Prat offers breathtaking views that include the Señoret Channel, the city of Puerto Natales, the vast pampas, and, on clear days, the majestic Torres del Paine National Park and the imposing Southern Patagonian Icefield.

The climb also requires precise navigation, particularly in the forested areas where trails are faint and difficult to follow.
