Description

Clingman's Dome from Elkmont, TN. 

Clingman's Dome is the highest point in Tennessee, the highest point along the Appalachian Trail, and the second highest point in North Carolina!

Ascent:  Begin at the Elkmont area Little River Trail head, then continue onto Goshen Prong Trail, and then Northbound on the Appalachian Trail. Note there is no up & down FKT on this route.  If you want to return to your starting point do the Loop variation.

Big Loop:  Begin at the Elkmont area Little River Trail head, then continue onto Huskey Gap Trail, Sugarlands Mountain Trail, Appalachian Trail (Southbound) to the summit of Clingman's Dome! Then continue Southbound to Miry Ridge Trail, Jakes Creek Trail, and return to the TH via the 0.2 mile road section.  35.2 miles / 6000' gain.
