This route follows the Conondale Range Great Walk of The Conondale Ranges in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in southeast Queensland. It is officially a 56km loop usually completed in 4 days hiking comprising mostly of soft rainforest single track and long climbs and descents. The highlight is definitely the views of spectacular Booloumba Falls and Summer Falls and the range of plants and wildlife. Anyone looking to do this route should be aware the area is known for having a large number of snakes and leeches in wet weather. This route follows the Department of Environment and Science official route for the great walk which includes short side trips to Booloumba Falls lookout, Peters Falls, Summer Falls and Mt Allan Fire Tower as well as the 3 campsites along the route.

The route starts and finishes at Booloumba Creek Picnic Area

"Walk highlights

From the valley, through deep gorges to the top of the range and back again, you will be captivated by the rugged beauty of this vast and varied landscape.

Ancient rainforest, cascading waterfalls, crystal clear creeks, tall open forest, and expansive 360 degree views are just some of spectacular features you will encounter as you walk.

A range of walking experiences are offered within this great walk—from short strolls to the challenging four day, 56km, full circuit walk. Whichever you choose—the Conondale Range Great Walk offers an adventure to remember!

The Conondale Range Great Walk is located within Conondale National Park, an hour’s drive north-west of the Sunshine Coast and a two-hour drive from Brisbane."

Tomorrow, 11 November 2022, my brother, Pieter van Heerden, and I will be attempting a mixed team unsupported record.

Weather looks cloudy but warm, so hoping for  a solid run on our semi-recovered UTA legs. 😀
